Percentage of oxygen in the oxide = 30.1%

= 1.25: 1.88

= 1: 1.5
   for converting above ratio in the whole number ratio by 2,we will get

 = 2: 3

The mole ratio of the element is represented by subscripts in empirical formula.

Therefore, the empirical formula for iron oxide is Fe2O3.
