(a) When several donor atoms are present in a single ligand, it is called polydentate ligand. E.g. edta4- (ethylenediaminetetraacetate), it is a hexa dentate ligand i.e. it can bind with metal through ^ sites as given below-
(b) Homoleptic complexes are those in which metal is bound to only one kind of donor atoms. E.g. [Co(NH3)6]3+, here all the 6 donor atoms/ligands are same that is ammine.
(oxalate is a bidentate ligand)
(aqua is a neutral ligand)
