Convert the following temperatures to the Celsius scale:
(a) 293 K

(b) 470 K

Answer :

(a) Kelvin is the SI unit of temperature. The Relation between Kelvin and Celsius is as follow:-

Temp. on Kelvin scale= Temp. on Celsius scale + 273

According to Question:-

293K = Temp.On Celsius scale + 273.
∴On Celsius scale= 293- 273 = 20°C.

Therefore, 293 K is equal to 20°C.

(b) Kelvin is the SI unit of temperature. The Relation between Kelvin and Celsius is as follow:-

Temp. on Kelvin scale = Temp. on Celsius scale + 273

According to Question:-

470k = Temp. On Celsius scale + 273

∴Temp. on Celsius scale= 470- 273 = 197°C.

Therefore, 470 K is equal to 197oC.
