When hydrochloric acid (HCl) is added to potassium permanganate (MnO2) then chlorine gas is formed.


MnO2 + 4HCl MnCl2 + Cl2 + H2O


On another hand Zn and HCl form Zinc chloride (ZnCl₂).


CaCO3 and HCl form calcium chloride (CaCl₂).


Pb(NO3)2 and HCl form Lead chloride (PbCl₂).
