One of the foremost things to prepare for JEE Main 2020 exam is to know the JEE Main syllabus, exam pattern, and chapter-wise weightage of topics to be covered. The syllabus of JEE Main Entrance exam is very vast which is divided into three subjects, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. So here we are providing topic-wise JEE Mains 2020 syllabus of Paper 1 and Paper 2 with the number of questions asked in the exam. JEE Main Syllabus 2020 - Paper 1
The syllabus of JEE Main Paper 1 can be divided into three parts i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Furthermore, the syllabus contains two Sections - A and B.
- Section - A pertains to the Theory Part having 80% weightage.
- Section - B contains Practical Component (Experimental Skills) having 20% weightage.

JEE Main Physics Syllabus 2020
The physics syllabus for JEE Main can be divided into 5 sections as given below:

JEE Main Syllabus Paper 2 - Aptitude Test for B Arch & B Planning
For admission to courses of B Arch & B Planning, the student will have to appear for Paper 2 which consists of tests on Maths, Aptitude & Drawing. The syllabus of maths remains the same. The syllabus for Aptitude is as given below:
- Awareness of persons, places, buildings, materials
- Objects and textures related to architecture and build-environment
- Visualizing 3-D objects from 2-D drawings, visualizing different sides of 3D objects
- Analytical reasoning, mental ability (visual, numerical and verbal)
- 3-D perception
- understanding and appreciation of scale and proportion of objects
- building forms, and elements
- colour texture, harmony and contrast.
- Design and drawing of geometrical or abstracts shapes and patterns in pencil
- Transformation of forms which are both 2D and 3D
- union, subtraction
- rotation and development of surfaces and volumes
- Generation of plans, elevation and 3D views of objects
- Creating 2D and 3D compositions using given shapes and forms.
- Sketching of scenes and activities from memory
- Urbanscape (public space, market, festivals, street scenes, monuments, recreations places etc), landscape (river fronts, jungles, trees, plants etc) and rural life.
JEE Main Exam Pattern 2020 (Paper 1)
JEE Main 2020 will be of 3 hours duration with 75 questions and a total of 300 marks. Test paper of JEE Main 2020 (paper-1) will be consisting of questions from Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics, and all questions will have equal weightage, as given below –

- There will be only one correct response for each question out of four responses given.
- One-fourth marks (-1) will be deducted for indicating the incorrect response of each question. However, no deduction from the total score will be made if no response is indicated for a question.
- All calculations/writing work is to be done only on the rough sheet provided at the centre. On completion of the test, candidates must hand over the rough sheets to the invigilator on duty in the examination hall.
JEE Main Exam Pattern 2020 (Paper 2)
JEE Main 2020 Paper 2 will also be of 3 hours duration with 77 questions divided into following three parts
- Part I - Mathematics
- Part II - Aptitude Test
- Part III - Drawing Test

Paper-1 (B.E./B.Tech)

- Type of Questions: Objective type with equal weightage to Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics
- Mode of Exam: Computer-based only
Paper-2 (B.Arch./B.Planning)
- Subjects
- Mathematics – Part I
- Aptitude Test – Part II
- Drawing Test – Part III
- Type of Questions - Objective type and Questions to test drawing aptitude
- Mode of Exam: Only Pen & Paper based
Important Note:
- It should be noted that JEE Main will be conducted by NTA from 2019 onward - in the month of January and April. A candidate can appear in one or both sitting.
- Candidates appearing in JEE Main Exam have the freedom to appear either for B.Tech or both.
