CBSE Class 10th Result 2020: How to Calculate CGPA

Once you are able to download your 10th mark sheet, you can calculate total CGPA in 10th CBSE by following the given instructions.

To calculate total CGPA, you need to add the points obtained in all subjects and divide the sum by the number of subjects. For example, if the points obtained by you in the following 5 subjects are.

Points Obtained Out of 100

Subject 1

Subject 2

Subject 3

Subject 4

Subject 5

Then, the CGPA can be calculated by adding the points obtained in all 5 subjects and dividing the sum by 5.

The formula for calculating CGPA = Total Points in All Subjects / Number of Subjects

Total Points in 5 Subjects = 7 + 8 + 8 + 9 + 9 = 41

CGPA = 41/5 = 8.2

We obtained the CGPA but we are not used to determining our performance based on this metric. Students and parents alike find the percentage metric easier to understand as we have been using it for ages. Let us now understand how to convert CGPA into a percentage.

How to Convert CGPA to Percentage in CBSE Class 10

Taking the example of the above condition, the CGPA is 8.2. CGPA to percentage conversion can be done by multiplying the CGPA by 9.5.

Here, marks in percentage can be calculated as follows.

Marks in Percentage from CGPA = 8.2*9.5 = 77.9%
