Both the poems “A walk by moonlight” by Henry Derozio and “I Wandered lonely as a Cloud” by William Wordsworth are a splendid description of the scenic beauty of nature. Poets have experienced these beautiful sights and depict their vision and tenderness by binding them into words.
In these lines Wordsworth tells the time when he just used to sit idly on a couch, mind full of absolutely no thoughts just as a regular teenager who has no idea about the present and future of his life. He is bored and lost in thinking to decide what to do in life. While some other time when he is sad and feeling helpless, he lies on the couch having only unpleasant thoughts. He feels pains of hardships and is worried about his further life. Poet has experienced these “thoughtful” and “thoughtless” wisdom in his life and he describes that human is baffled within his worries and expectations. He needs to enhance his inner self and take help from nature to seek the meaning of his existence. Whenever he gets down, think of flowers which are about to bloom and take a new life with the coming season. The scent and aroma of its beauty are going to fill nature with joy and fresh thoughts. Life is about living and dying. Trees lose their leaves and fruits but never dies, it waits for next season to get new leaves. In the same manner, human should not get sadden and worry about the opportunities he loses in fact keep waiting for his next turn in search of new hopes and inspirations.
Both poets have used the term “inward eye” or “inward vision”. Inward vision means the inner vision or “the spiritual vision” by which human is able to seek the real meaning of the existence of every aspect in this world. Although it’s a myth the immense power of spirituality is only attained after death but poet has compared that feeling with the feeling of sensation and vision of nature during moonlight and just wandering through a natural field or forest where the earth exists in its original form and begins to attract the intellectual thoughts and emotions of human beings. Undoubtedly the scenic glory, precious landscapes, scents of flowers, sounds of tiny insects taking births and deaths in some parts of nature provide peaceful warmth to the soul and an inspiration to grow in life bigger and better unconditionally.
