Answer :

Material wealth is not a guarantee for happiness. One should live on their means. Understand your ground realities live accordingly. Ambitions have no limits. One should not try to take the legs out of the provided zone. There is no end to satisfaction. This is truly shown in the chapter ‘The Necklace’ wherein Matilda ultimately ruined her life in a hope of fulfilling her never-ending needs and wants. One should find peace and happiness in what he/she has rather than running after the things they don’t have. Same happened with Matilda. She was not satisfied with the dress she has and went ahead with getting a new one. She was not having jewelry and so she went up borrowing and for that, she had to pay a huge interest rate. So, it is better said that be happy with what you have and live a peaceful life.

It has been rightly said that small things make a big difference. This is clearly shown in the poem ‘Dust of Snow’. In this poem, the poet who was sad and depressed was sitting under the Hemlock tree which is considered as poisonous. The poet chose this tree to sit instead of the other trees present over there. At the same time, a crow which is not considered as fortunate shake the tree and a white snowfall down through the tree to the poet which altogether changes the mindset of the poet. He wasted his day so far because of his sad mood but because of this action of crow he was again rejoiced and prepared to spend the rest of his day fruitfully. Thus, a small action or moment can be proved beneficial if taken positively.
