Combustion of methane is given by the reaction
CH4(g) + 2O2(g) → CO2(g) + 2H2O(g)
If 1 mol of methane is combusted completely, it will give 2 mol of H2O. Hence, 16g of methane on combustion gives 36g of H2O not 18g.
So, from the above reaction we can conclude that H2O is a product.
