As a part of an admission formality to a degree course in an internationally reputed university, you are expected to write an essay about, yourself, your strengths and weaknesses, your idea of
success and ways of realizing your dream in life. Use some of the ideas from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam's
speech. Write the essay on Realizing One's Dream is no Magic, in about 150-200 words.
Realizing One's Dream is no Magic
A dream essentially is a vision. The only difference is the intensity of it. Dreams are what keep people up at night with excitement. Dreams motivate people to get on with their mundane lives. However, despite all the excitement surrounding dreams, the fulfilment of these dreams have no magic or miracle attached to them. Making dreams come true requires proper planning and the calculation of one’s strength and weaknesses. If I am, for example, a person whose dream it is to get through a course that is language intensive, then I should be equipped for the same. My strategies should involve taking classes to improve my linguistic skills. At the same time, these strategies should be based upon my strengths and weaknesses – if I am a person who has a shorter attention span, then I should opt for correspondence courses to hone my skills at my own time and pace. Therefore, I feel that for a dream to become successful, one needs to nurture it appropriately. Success happens when one can gauge appropriately where their true happiness lies. Therefore, for realising one’s goal in life, one needs to have a customised game plan to suit them, and that along with consistent effort will yield success.
