Answer :

(a) Mr. Otto Frank was a smart, resourceful and caring father as well as a talented businessman. He had a strong character and was clearly the head of the Frank household. He likes reading books, news and he encourages these interests in Anne. He was the only resident of the annex to survive the war. Otto remained in Aushwitz until it was liberated by Russian troops in 1945. He returned to Holland where he receives Anne’s diary. He got Anne’s diary published and spent his life promoting Anne’s diary. He often serves as the peacekeeper between the Franks, Van Daans, and Dussel. According to Anne, Mr. Otto Frank is one of the kindest, smartest, most gentle and thoughtful fathers imaginable. He always supports Anne and frequently takes her stand during family arguments. He always remains level-headed, while the other adults in the annex can be stingy, harsh and emotional. Unlike Mr. Dussel, he always tries to keep the best food for the children and takes the smallest portion for himself. Anne mentions the feeling of a special closeness to her father since she sees herself as more similar to him than to her mother or sister. Anne always tries to impress her father, live up to his expectations, and obey his wishes.  However when she is in a close relationship with Peter her father deems it inappropriate and asks her to stop visiting Peter in the upper part of the annex. Anne feels upset that her father is so conservative, protective and does not approve of her relationship. Out of respect for her father and in an attempt to please him, Anne begins to spend less with Peter.

OR

Anne Frank was only 13 and her sister Margot was 16 when they went into hiding during the Holocaust. During their two years in hiding, both Anne and Margot learned a lot about each other, their differences, similarities and how to be close during a time of so much fear. In The Diary of a Young Girl, Anne Frank and her family go into hiding to evade the Nazis during the Holocaust. They hide in the secret annex, which was a room built onto the back of Anne's father's office. They were there for two years, living with another family, the van Daans, in very cramped quarters and with a dwindling food supply. This environment created a lot of conflict between the families and within the families. Anne is spunky and confident, in a way that many younger girls usually are not. She knows she is smart, and she is willing to speak her mind, even if that turns into an argument. Anne is also more independent and desirous of time alone; she works out her fears and frustrations in her own head or on paper, instead of with her family. Margot is almost the opposite of Anne: she is quiet and well mannered. She has a wonderful relationship with her mother, and they're very close. She tends to gravitate towards her family and gets lonely if left alone too long. Others see Margot almost as a non entity, so quiet that many didn't even realize she was there.

(b)Miss Sullivan did not believe in formal classroom teaching. She introduced the play-way method into her teaching making Helen study outdoors. She made Helen actually feel the nature and its creations. She explained Helen all about earth, poles, mountains, valleys, and drifts in such a way that she could actually understand and feel the things around her.

This manner of teaching helped Helen to learn things faster. It became much easier for her to imagine, understand and remember things.

OR

Helen Keller said that examinations could lead to cause anxiety an obsessive fear of what one has learned previously and forget what was learned during the time of the study when the exam paper is in front of them.

Even with her love and will to learn new things Helen found examinations challenging.

This shows that examinations cause fear in the minds of students, no matter how bright they are.
