Answer :

Since a child, Anne Frank had been trapped in a secret over her father’s office in order to hide from the Nazis. She had confined within herself dwindling emotions and a lot in her mind. To help her cope with this situation, her father, Mr. Otto Frank got her a diary to pen down her emotional conflicts. It was in this diary that Anne Frank describes herself as a “bundle of contradictions”. She felt that there were two Anne within herself- the one being frivolous and the other serious one as she said, “My lighter, more superficial side will always steal a march on the deeper and therefore always win.” Anne had often been sidelined for criticism. She felt that no one tried to comprehend her and she herself found it difficult to be herself or grow up according to her ideals in such claustrophobic condition. She said, “I’m used to not being taken seriously, but only the ‘lighthearted’….If I force the good Anne into the spotlight for even fifteen minutes, she shuts up like a clam in the moment she’s called upon to speak”.
