When gaseous pollutants like CO2, SO2, nitrogen oxides mix with the raindrops then it falls to the earth as acid rain. It has harmful effects on aquatic life and soil. The water becomes acidic and aquatic animals have a huge problem to live. In soil, as the acidic effect increases, plants cannot grow well and becomes acidicit increases the pH of the ecosystem.
