A particle is found to be at rest when seen from a frame S1 and moving with a constant velocity when seen from another frame S2. Mark out the possible options.
A. Both the frames are inertial.

B. Both the frames are non-inertial.

C. S1 is inertial and S2 is non-inertial.

D. S1 is non-inertial and S2 is inertial.

Answer :

a.) Yes, it is correct because in the particle is at rest and in it moves with constant frame which means and frame are non-accelerating frame and thus inertial.

b.) This is also possible, if the frame and particle have same acceleration the particle will be seen at rest and for frame at same acceleration but different velocity at the instant the particle seen to be moving with the same velocity.

c.) & d.) are not correct because these conditions are not possible if one is inertial and other being non-inertial.
