Q. 26

A motorcyclist drives from point A to point B with a uniform speed of 30 km h–1 and returns back to point A with a uniform speed of 20 km h–1. Find the average speed of the motorcyclist.

Answer :

Let distance from A to B = x Km

Time to go from A to B i.e. t1 = x/30 hours

Time to return from B to A i.e. t2 = x/20 hours

Total time = t1 + t2

= hours

Average Speed =

=

= 24 km/h
