# A doctor has prescribed a corrective lens of power, -2 D. Find the focal length of the lens. Is the prescribed lens diverging or converging ?

P = -2 D

P = 1/f

f = 1/P = 1/(-2) = -0.5 m = -50 cm

Since focal length is negative, it is a diverging lens.
