Let ρ be the density of the block, L be its height and A be its area and ρ_{w} be the density of water.

Let l be the length of the submerge part, then l = Lx

Here, in case1,

Weight of the block = weight of submerged water

In the case2, in the frame relative to the elevator, the effective coefficient of gravity becomes g^{’} = g + a

Weight of the block = weight of submerged water
