Q. 34 B3.8( 12 Votes )

A bus was moving with a speed of 54 km/h. On applying brakes it stopped in 8 seconds. Calculate the acceleration.

Answer :

According to the Question we know:-

u = 54 Km/hr(Given)

(We know that 1km=1000m and 1hr= 60x60 seconds)

u=

t = 8 sec(Given)

v = 0 m/s(As the bus is coming to rest)

We know that v= u+at,Putting the values in the equation we get:-

0= 15+8a
⇒ (-15)= 8a

∴ a= (-1.875 ms-2)
