Q. 253.8( 21 Votes )

A bus running at a speed of 18 km/h is stopped in 2.5 seconds by applying brakes. Calculate the retardation produced.

Answer :

u (initial velocity) = 18 Km/hr

t ( time )= 2.5 sec

v( final velocity) = 0 m/s

from, the first equation of motion
v = u +  a×t
0 = 5 +  a×2.5
a = - 2 m/s2
