Molarity of a solution can be defined as:

If one mole of solute is dissolved in One-litre solution, then the concentration of the solution has 1 molarity. So from the above definition, formula for finding molarity can be written as:


Molarity = no. of moles ÷ volume of solution in litres


For the given question,


No. of moles of HCL = 2


Volume in mL = 500mL


Volume in litres = 500÷1000 = 0.5L


Molarity = 2 ÷ 0.5 = 4M
